The short version
You can read NEWZ without signing in, without giving an email address, and without being profiled. There is no advertising network on this site and no third-party analytics script. What little NEWZ stores is kept on your own device, so the app can open without a signal.
What is stored on your device
Two things, both in your browser’s local storage or cache, neither of which leaves the device:
- Whether you dismissed the storage notice, so it is not shown repeatedly.
- A copy of the headlines you last loaded, plus their thumbnails, so the front page still opens when you are offline.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes all of it, and uninstalling the app removes it with them.
What NEWZ does not do
- No accounts, so no names, emails, or passwords are collected.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- No selling or sharing of personal data, because none is gathered.
- No reading history tied to a person.
What our servers see
Loading a page makes an ordinary web request, and our servers process it as any web server does — including an IP address and browser user agent — to deliver the page and to keep the service available and secure. These are not used to build a profile of you.
When you open a story
Every headline links out to the newsroom that published it. Following one takes you to that outlet’s website, which is operated by them and governed by their privacy policy, not this one. Thumbnails are loaded from the outlets’ own servers, so opening the feed does make a request to them.
Children
NEWZ is a general news service and is not directed at children. Because it collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is stored, the notice will be shown again. Questions about privacy, or a request to remove a source, can be sent to the address on the terms page.
